After 23 years of dedicated service, Sophy Morley will be bidding farewell to the Diocese of Sale, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and devotion. Sophy's significant roles as the Diocesan Coordinator for Liturgy & Pastoral Ministry, Diocesan Director of Music, and Diocesan 'Gaudium et Spes' Plenary Council Convenor have profoundly impacted the diocese.

The farewell event, organized by the Diocese of Sale and beginning with evening prayer, was a warm and memorable gathering attended by a distinguished group of individuals. Bishop Greg Bennet, the Bishop of Sale, graced the occasion, expressing his admiration for Sophy's tireless efforts and extraordinary contributions.

The clergy, chancery staff, and parish staff from across the diocese, joined in the farewell tribute, reflecting the deep appreciation and respect they held for Sophy's leadership and guidance. Alongside them were colleagues, friends and immediate family, including her husband Chris Morley, mother Nelly Broeren and siblings were present.

The wider community also gathered to pay tribute to Sophy's invaluable service. Distinguished guests, such as Dr. Paul Taylor and Professor Gabrielle McMullen, expressed their gratitude for Sophy's remarkable contributions to the wider Australian Catholic Church, and her national leadership roles, particularly as a member of the National Liturgical Council and for her work with the 5th Plenary Council of Australia, and the lasting influence she has had on the diocese.

Video messages of farewell were sent from Archbishop Christopher Prowse of the Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese, Archbishop Patrick O’Regan of the Archdiocese of Adelaide, as well as Pauline Cook and Anne Vaughan, who had the privilege of working closely with Sophy in the past. These heartfelt messages served as a testament to Sophy's impact beyond the Diocese of Sale.

A grand reception followed at Sion House, providing an opportunity for everyone to express their gratitude to Sophy for her selfless work and remarkable dedication. The catering for the event was expertly organized by the volunteers from Yarragon parish, who provided a sumptuous spread, delighting all in attendance.
