DIOCESAN PASTORAL PLAN  FRAMEWORK

The Diocese of Sale has developed a comprehensive Diocesan Pastoral Plan Framework (2026-2030) to guide its faith communities in living out a Christ-centred, synodal and mission-driven vision. Grounded in the Gospel and inspired by synodal spirituality, the plan aims to foster unity, renewal, and transformation across parishes, schools, and diocesan organizations.

Key Components of the Plan

  1. Vision: A Christ-centred Church that is inclusive, prayerful, humble, joyful, and open to renewal, embodying the mission of Jesus and the Church today.
  1. Six Diocesan Pastoral Goals:
    • Deepen Christ-Centred Faith and Spiritual Growth: Strengthen spiritual life through prayer, liturgy, and faith formation.
    • Advance Synodal Leadership and Engagement: Promote shared leadership, listening, and co-responsibility among clergy and laity.
    • Build an Inclusive and Welcoming Church: Create a compassionate, inclusive community that supports marginalized individuals and fosters reconciliation.
    • Inspire the Engagement of Young People and Families: Empower youth and families to actively shape the Church’s mission.
    • Enhance Parish-School Collaboration: Strengthen partnerships between Catholic schools and parishes to build united faith communities.
    • Ignite Missionary Outreach and Evangelisation: Encourage all generations to live as missionary disciples through joyful witness, justice, and care for creation.

Implementation Process

The plan outlines a step-by-step process for parishes to develop their own Parish Pastoral Plans, including:

  1. Grounding the process in prayer and discernment.
  2. Establishing diverse parish planning teams.
  3. Aligning with the Diocesan vision and goals.
  4. Understanding local contexts and needs.
  5. Consulting broadly and deeply with parish communities.
  6. Drafting, finalizing, and commissioning the Parish Pastoral Plan.
  7. Implementing and regularly reviewing the plan.

Call to Action

The Diocese of Sale is committed to building a vibrant, mission-focused Church that serves as a beacon of hope and refuge for all. The plan calls for bold action, co-responsibility, and collaboration across all faith communities and organizations. It emphasizes the importance of prayer, liturgy, faith formation, digital evangelization, and outreach to transform inspired words into impactful actions.

Timeline

Having launched the Diocesan Pastoral Plan in October 2025, each parish in the Diocese will begin its pastoral planning process through prayer, reflection, and visioning. By May 2026, parishes will finalize and commission their plans, followed by implementation in June 2026. Regular reviews will occur through 2029, culminating in the 2030 Diocesan Assembly.

This framework is a living document designed to evolve with the needs of the Diocese, ensuring a Christ-centred, inclusive, and mission-driven future for all.
