Herbie O Flynn, a parishioner of St Patrick's parish Pakenham, received a Papal Blessing from Fr Janeesh Jose, the parish priest of St Patrick's Parish, Pakenham.

With many of his ancestors in the military, Herby spent 21 years of service in the Army. In 1986, Herbie was the executive director in organising Pope John Paul's visit to Canberra. He later worked as the foundation manager of the Catholic Development Fund in the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn and as the Archdiocesan Financial Administrator and project manager for the development of the Cathedral Precinct. He was also in the Archdiocesan Pastoral Planning Committee, Diocesan Pastoral Council, and many other roles. Herbie was awarded Papal Honour: Knight of St Gregory the Great by Pope Francis in 2015 for service to the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn

Having moved to Pakenham in 2015, Herbie made St. Patricks Parish his home. He became a member of the Parish Pastoral Council and was significantly involved in the formation and running of Paddy's Kitchen. He continues to be one of the leaders of Paddy's kitchen. His passion for helping those in need is notable among his works; he spends his Christmas day cooking and serving those in need. He has also been the Secretary Church Renovation Committee. In addition, he is the parish safeguarding officer and a member of the Parish Team.

Born in India, Herbie moved to Australia at the age of eight. However, the most vital pillar behind Herbie's success is his dear wife, Lynn O'Flynn, to whom he has been married for fifty-nine years. They raised five children and are now proud grandparents to eight lucky grandchildren.

St. Patricks Parish is grateful for all the time, effort and wisdom he has given for the betterment of the parish.
