Year of St Joseph celebrations have begun in earnest with a launch for our Diocese of the special year at Joseph's Church in Warragul. Approximately 35 people gathered on the Solemnity of St Joseph for evening prayer on Friday (19 March).

Special guest Sr Doreen Dagge RSJ, whom this year is celebrating 60 years as a Sister of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, gave a reflection on the life of St Joseph, the spouse of Mary and foster Father to Jesus.

Sr Doreen spoke of Joseph as ‘the quiet man’ who was strongly present in Mary and Jesus’ life and the example he provides to as a model for workers and as a courageous and trusting member of the Holy family.

Sr Doreen shared on her early faith formation with the Josephite sisters growing up in Newport and how their example of never letting a need going unanswered led her to her vocation.

She spoke of how the life of a religious sister has evolved over the last 60 years and the joy she has experience through her ministry and her contact with her own extended family.

Sr Doreen has spent many years working in the Diocese of Sale as well as other locations across Australia. She currently lives and supports others in the Traralgon parish community.

An E-Resource for Families -"Let's Connect!" was launched by Bishop Greg Bennet on the evening. The resource contains a wide variety of live links to online information, networks and resources to enrich, interest and support families in their Christian living. The electronic resource has been produced by the Diocesan Plenary Council ‘Gaudium et Spes’ Team, responding to the proceedings and outcomes of the 2019 Sale Diocesan Assembly. It can be downloaded on this website.

A comprehensive resource for celebrating the Year of St Joseph was also provide to those who attended the launch and this is also available on the Diocesan website.
