Rev. Confidence Masvosva, 36

Place of birth: Gutu, Zimbabwe

I came to Australia first in 2014 to visit my brother. In 2015 I came to prepare and study for priesthood for the diocese of Sale.

Any other work or jobs you may have done before entering the seminary.
Before coming to study for this diocese I was a religious. I was with the Congregation of the Holy Spirit known as the Spiritans or Holy Ghost Fathers for 8 years. During those 8 years I did my postulancy, philosophy, novitiate, and part of theology.

Tell us a bit about your family.
I was born in a Catholic family. Both my parents came from a catholic background. Both my parents have died, my mother, Anna-Colleta in December 2018 and my father, Crispen February 2019. We are eleven in the family, eight boys and three girls.

What was your reason for taking up the call to your vocation to the Priesthood for the Diocese of Sale?
Before joining the diocese of Sale, I was a religious and I was in formation to priesthood in Zimbabwe. After visiting my brother, I got connection first with the diocese through Our Lady Help of Christians Parish Narre Warren. Having had missionary formation before coming to Australia it was easy for me to work in multicultural society.

Who have been your key supporters during your training?
Family, Bishop Pat, Formators, my Spiritual Director, Corpus Christi Seminary Community, Catholic Theological College Community, Serra Club, Knights of the Southern Cross, Catholic Women’s League, Clergy from the Diocese of Sale, Zimbabwe Catholic Community in Australia and in Zimbabwe, friends, and relatives.

Who is the brother priest supporting you on the day?
Fr Kenneth Macharaga

Do you have any specific saints you admire or other spiritual influences in your life?
John Paul II, John Vianney and Mother Theresa.

What are your other interests or talents?
I am a team player, I am interested in working with people of all ages, I enjoy pastoral visits.

Good at listening and care for others. What are you most looking forward to about your Vocation after your Ordination?
Pastoral ministry is key for me. To work with people and to serve them. For me people come first before place, location, or context.

Who do you hope will be tuning into the livestreaming to support you?
I hope my siblings overseas may tune in, friends and relatives.
