St John Paul II the in 1985, World Youth Day has been held in a number of host cities, including right here in Australia in 2008 when Sydney hosted what would become a key moment for the young people of the Australian Church.
Most recently, World Youth Day was hosted by Lisbon, Portugal in 2023, where it was announced that the 41st World Youth Day would be held in Seoul, South Korea from the 3rd to 8th August. This will be the first to be held with Pope Leo XIV.
The theme for World Youth Day 2027 is "Take Courage! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33).
The Diocese of Sale is inviting young people from the around the Diocese aged 16 years to 35 years, together with students and staff from Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Ltd. (DOSCEL), as we travel as one pilgrimage group from Sale to Seoul.
The pilgrimage will include a pre-WYD experience as we visit significant cultural and Catholic sites in South Korea, followed by the World Youth Day week in Seoul and a post-WYD retreat experience before returning to Australia.
Finalised details of our itinerary and accurate range of cost will be released in November 2026.

If you are a part of a Diocesan Parish aged between 16 and 35 years old and wish to attend as either a pilgrim or a small group leader, Expressions of Interest are now OPEN and will close on Friday 4th December. Click HERE to complete your Expression of Interest.
