Theme: Walking Together in Christ: 40 Years On!
On the 5th of July, we celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday, acknowledging how the Church in Australia is deeply enriched by the spirituality, culture, and voices of First Nations Peoples.
This year’s celebration invites us into special reflection as we mark two historic milestones:
"The Church is enriched by the many cultures it embraces. This is not something we simply acknowledge — it is something we are called to live."
These anniversaries remind us of enduring faith, resilience, and our shared call to unity. Today’s Liturgy is an invitation to look back with gratitude, listen deeply, and move forward side-by-side as one Body in Christ.
Next Sunday is Sea Sunday, a time to remember the world's mariners who endure extreme isolation, dangerous seas, and intense loneliness to transport the goods we rely on daily. National Director Fr Tony Cox SSC reminds us that because they work far from land, seafarers are often "invisible" and forgotten. Stella Maris Australia (under the Bishops Commission for Social Justice, Mission and Service) supports these workers by providing spiritual and material aid and advocating for their human dignity.

Pope Leo XIV has released his highly anticipated first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas ("Magnificent Humanity"). In it, the Holy Father reflects on how we can protect human dignity, relationships, and the value of human work as Artificial Intelligence transforms our world.
The fifth chapter prompts reflection on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on armed conflicts and the pursuit of peace. It warns against the temptation to entrust machines with decisions that should remain exclusively in the hands of human beings.

The Mothers Who Pray for Their Children movement warmly invites you to their upcoming Formation Gathering, to be held on Sunday, 16 August 2026 at St Michael the Archangel Parish, Traralgon.
The theme for this year's gathering is "Eucharist: God's Gift, Encounter with Christ", inspired by our formation book Eucharist: Gift of God, Place of Encounter. The day will include prayer, formation talks, fellowship, and Holy Mass celebrated by Bishop Greg Bennet.
This gathering is open to mothers, grandmothers, and all those interested in growing deeper in their faith and understanding of the Eucharist.
