TS Eliot in his poem The Dry Savages wrote ‘We had the experience, but we missed the meaning’. This week the gospel reading tells of the healing of the man who has been blind since birth. As we reflect on this gospel we come to see that it is not just about the healing of physical blindness but a deep reflection on what it means to truly ‘see’. We notice that through his encounter with Jesus, the man’s understanding about who Jesus is deepens.
Let us pray that our Lent reflections will enable us to look more closely at ourselves and the needs of our world in order that we may deepen our understanding of what it means to be a disciple of the Lord.
