‘Anyone who drinks the water that I shall give will never be thirsty again.’ (John 4:14)
Lent is a pondering time. For what do we long? On offer from Jesus is ‘living water’ – an answer to our longings. The woman who encounters Jesus in this week’s gospel is met with kindness – Jesus looks into her heart and responds to her longings. She leaves her water jar and hurries back to town. Her encounter with Jesus has been transformative and her first impulse is to share that she has met the one who is the Christ.
"Let us pray that through our Lenten practices we will come to a deeper understanding of how to find the ‘living water’ in our lives."
