Join Catholic Mission in this celebration with missionaries from around the world.

World Mission Sunday will be celebrated around the world on October 23, and it is a call to all of us that we have a role to play in the great work of Mission. Catholic Mission and its international network are launching the 2022 #wearestillhere message to mark the event.

This celebration of the life-giving work of Mission is the opportunity to highlight the work of missionaries who are leading mission development projects to the ends of the earth, showing that there are no limits to sharing the love of God.

Pope Francis, in his 2022 World Mission Sunday Message reminds us that we are all invited to answer the call to be missionary, sharing that "Mission is carried out together, not individually...".   Read Pope Francis Message Here

To celebrate this time of the year, Catholic Mission is launching #wearestillhere, a 2022 campaign reflecting on the role of being a missionary.

“Being missionary means to give hope to those who have lost hope, and to work together with the community to continue building a better, more just, world for everyone.” Says Maria, one of the key project partners in this World Mission Month, focusing on Ethiopia.

Through the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) international network, known as Catholic Mission in Australia, individuals and communities, as missionary disciples, are able to reach beyond the Australian borders and carry the work of Mission to the ends of the world. To celebrate this international network, Catholic Mission and PMS agencies around the world have produced #wearestillhere message that witnesses the dedication of people carrying the great work of Mission and the importance of this large network of missionaries, as Mission is carried out together.

“We came together in a spirit of collaboration and solidarity witnessing a vision of Mission that expresses the great work that is being accomplished in communities across the world. Being part of the Pontifical Mission Societies is a crucial part of our identity and it is thanks to this network of missionaries that we are able to support the great work of Mission.” Says Fr Brian Lucas, Catholic Mission National Director. “The #wearestillhere campaign reminds us of the importance of the togetherness and international cooperation in supporting those who need it the most. “

The World Mission Campaign #wearestillhere is a celebration, an acknowledgment, and a thank you message to everyone who is answering the call of being missionaries wherever they are. Catholic Mission would like to thank you for taking part in the celebration of World Mission Sunday and answering the call to be missionaries.
