Catholic Mission

Catholic Mission is the official mission aid agency of the Catholic Church, providing practical, spiritual and emotional support to communities in 160 developing countries world-wide, encouraging all people to be active participants, not passive recipients, of assistance.

Catholic Mission has two complementary tasks:

  • To inform and educate the people of Australia about the Mission of the Catholic Church and Justice in the world today.
  • To encourage individuals, parishes, schools and community groups to share their time, talents, money and prayer with desperately poor communities overseas and in remote country dioceses of Australia to further the work of the Catholic Church and Justice in the world.

Visit Catholic Mission's website for more information and opportunities to contribute.

Caritas

Caritas Australia is the Catholic agency for overseas aid and development. Our main involvement with Caritas each year is participation in the Project Compassion campaign, in parishes and schools, during Lent.

Caritas has a number of different core values, which include:

  • Providing economic justice to benefit the entire human community.
  • Promoting peace and safeguarding the goods, dignity and freedom of people.
  • Stewardship of creation and sharing natural resources of the earth.
  • Providing solidarity regardless of race, political beliefs, gender or religion.

For more information about how you can contribute, please visit the Caritas website for more details.
